Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Keystone Apps ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Zappr for Smart TVs (the "App"), an iOS app that discovers TVs and streaming devices on your Wi-Fi network (including Chromecast and Google TV, Samsung Smart TVs, LG webOS, Roku, and Android TV), lets you control them like a remote, and cast photos, videos, and IPTV playlists to them.

If anything here seems inconsistent with how the App actually behaves, please contact us so we can fix it.

Information We Collect

Devices on your network

To show and connect to TVs and streaming devices, the App reads basic information about them over your local network — such as device name, model, and type. This is used only to display and connect to your devices, and is stored locally on your phone so the App can reconnect to a device you've used before.

Photos & videos you cast or save

Photos and videos are only read from your library when you choose to cast or convert them, and are streamed directly to your TV — not uploaded to us. Media you choose to save is written back to your library the same way.

IPTV playlists

The App ships no channel catalog of its own. A playlist only ever comes from a file or URL you provide, which the App fetches directly to load channel information. We never see, store, or have access to that URL or its contents.

Search text

When you search for a video or an image to cast, the text you type is sent directly to YouTube or Google to return results — see Playlists, Search & Online Content below.

Voice input

If you use the optional voice-remote feature, your speech is processed using Apple's built-in Speech Recognition framework, which — depending on your device and iOS settings — may perform recognition on-device or send audio to Apple's servers to convert it to text. This is governed by Apple's own privacy practices, not something we control.

Aside from the items above, we don't collect your name, email address, or other directly-identifying information, and there's no account or sign-in in the App.

Permissions We Request

The App requests the following device permissions. Each is optional, requested only when relevant, and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings → Zappr for Smart TVs.

The App does not request camera, contacts, or location access, and does not use any of those capabilities.

How Casting & Device Control Works

Zappr for Smart TVs uses a small number of connectivity SDKs — Google Cast (for Chromecast, Android TV, and Google TV), Samsung Smart View, and ConnectSDK (for LG webOS, Roku, and other generic network devices) — to find and talk to devices on your Wi-Fi. In every case, casting and remote-control commands travel directly between your phone and your TV over your local network; we don't relay, see, or store that traffic on a server.

For Android TV pairing specifically, the App downloads a small, one-time control component when first needed so it can speak Android TV's own remote-pairing protocol, then runs it locally on your device. After that one-time download, all communication with your Android TV happens over your local network, the same as with any other supported device.

Playlists, Search & Online Content

• IPTV playlists: added only by a file or URL you provide. The App connects directly to that address to load channel data — we never see or store it.
• YouTube search: your search text is sent directly to YouTube to find videos and to Google's suggestion service for autocomplete. Selecting a video launches YouTube's own app on your TV.
• Online image search: your search text is sent directly to Google's image search so you can find a picture to cast.
• Browser cast: an in-app browser lets you browse the web and cast a page to your TV. The sites you visit there aren't collected by us.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

• find, display, and connect to the TVs and streaming devices on your network;
• provide the specific feature you requested — casting, remote control, search, or playing a playlist;
• maintain and improve the App's reliability and performance;
• manage free-tier limits and your subscription, if you have one.

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

Third-Party Services & Tracking

We do not display third-party ads within the App, do not use any analytics or attribution SDKs, do not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and do not request App Tracking Transparency permission, because the App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. These providers operate under their own privacy practices — see Google's Privacy Policy, Samsung's Privacy Policy, and Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage, Retention & Security

The App is local-first: your saved devices, playlists, and settings are stored on your phone, not in a remote database we operate, for as long as you keep them there — forgetting a device, deleting a playlist, or deleting the App removes that data. Content involved in casting, search, or an IPTV playlist is used only to perform that one action and is not retained by us afterward, since it never passes through a server we control.

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections wherever a request leaves your device (such as a search query) — to protect information in transit. Data stored on your device is protected by iOS's own device-level security.

Your Choices & Rights

• Permission controls: grant, deny, or revoke Local Network, Photos, Microphone, or Speech Recognition access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or Settings → Zappr for Smart TVs.
• Forgetting a device or playlist: removing a saved device or playlist in the App deletes it from your phone. Since we don't keep a remote copy, there's nothing further for us to delete on our end.
• Voice remote is optional: every core discovery, casting, and control feature works without ever using the microphone.
• Access & deletion requests: to ask what data we hold about your device or to request its deletion, contact us using the details below — we'll respond within a reasonable time.
• If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights (access, deletion, correction, objection, or portability of any personal information we process, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them). Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

International Users

The App is available globally. Casting and device-control traffic always stays on your own local network regardless of where you are. Search text you enter may be processed by Google or YouTube on servers located outside your country, under their own privacy practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as we add features or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is material, we'll provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice) where appropriate.
