Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
Plain-language summary
- Your scans, documents, and photos are stored locally on your device. There's no account or sign-in, and we don't operate a server that stores your files.
- Camera, Photos, Contacts, and Local Network access are each used only for the specific feature they enable, and only when you use it.
- If you use an optional AI-assisted tool, the specific photo or text it needs is sent to our servers to generate that one result — nothing else, and only when you use it.
- We use standard analytics tooling to understand aggregated, anonymous app usage. We don't show ads inside the App, don't use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal information, and you can ask us to delete any data we hold at any time — see Your Choices & Rights.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Keystone Apps ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Smart Printer: Scan & Edit (the "App"), an iOS app for scanning, printing, editing, converting, and organizing documents and photos.
If anything here seems inconsistent with how the App actually behaves, please contact us so we can fix it.
Information We Collect
Documents, scans & photos
Documents, scans, photos, and other files you create or import in the App are stored locally on your device. We don't maintain a remote database of your files, and we can't see them.
Contacts
If you choose to export or print an entry from your Contacts, that data is used only for the export or print job you started and is not collected, stored, or transmitted by us beyond that.
Content sent to an AI-assisted tool
When you use an optional AI-assisted tool, the specific photo or text needed for that tool is sent to our servers to generate your result — only what's needed for the feature you asked for, and only when you actively use it. See AI-Assisted Features below.
Usage & diagnostic data
We use Firebase (Google) to collect aggregated, anonymous analytics — such as which screens and features are used, app performance, and crash diagnostics — tied to a random per-installation identifier, not your name, email, or Apple ID. We use this data in aggregate; we don't build an individual profile of you from it.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your name or email address unless you choose to email us directly, we don't use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and there's no account, sign-in, or user profile in the App.
Permissions We Request
The App requests the following device permissions. Each is optional, requested only when relevant, and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings → Smart Printer.
| Permission | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Camera | To scan documents, ID cards, and QR codes. |
| Photo Library | To import images to scan or convert, and to save scanned or converted pages back to your library. |
| Contacts | To let you export or print entries from your contacts, if you choose to. |
| Local Network | To discover printers available on your Wi-Fi network. We don't collect or retain a list of devices on your network. |
AI-Assisted Features
The App includes optional AI-assisted tools (such as identifying objects in a scanned photo). Using one of these tools sends the relevant photo or text to our servers to generate your result. That content is used only to produce the result you requested, is not used to build advertising profiles, and is not shared with anyone beyond what's needed to generate your result. These tools are entirely optional — every core scanning, printing, and editing feature works without them.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide the specific feature you requested — scanning, printing, editing, converting, or organizing a file, or generating an AI-assisted result;
- maintain and improve the App's reliability and performance, and diagnose and fix bugs;
- manage free-tier limits and your subscription, if you have one.
We do not use your documents or photos to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.
Third-Party Services & Tracking
The App uses a small number of third-party services:
| Service | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase | Aggregated, anonymous usage analytics, crash diagnostics, and remote app configuration | |
| Ad conversion measurement | Privacy-preserving, on-device measurement of App Store ad campaign effectiveness — doesn't use your device's advertising identifier | |
| App Store / StoreKit | Apple | Processes all subscription purchases and payment |
We do not display third-party ads within the App. We do not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and do not request App Tracking Transparency permission, because the App does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes. These providers operate under their own privacy practices — see Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage, Retention & Security
The App is local-first: your documents, scans, and settings are stored on your device, not in a remote database we operate, for as long as you keep them there — deleting a file or the App removes it. Content sent to an AI-assisted tool is used only to generate your result and is not retained by us afterward. Aggregated analytics data is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, under our providers' standard retention periods.
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections for any data sent to a server — to protect information in transit. Files stored on your device are protected by iOS's own device-level security (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and file encryption).
You can create a local backup of your data from Settings and restore it later — a self-contained file you choose where to save, which we don't automatically upload anywhere.
Your Choices & Rights
- Permission controls: grant, deny, or revoke Camera, Photos, Contacts, or Local Network access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or Settings → Smart Printer.
- Deletion: deleting a file or the App itself removes it from your device. Since we don't keep a remote copy of your files, there's nothing further for us to delete on our end.
- AI-assisted tools are optional: you can use every core scanning, printing, and editing feature without ever sending content to an AI-assisted tool.
- Access & deletion requests: to ask what data we hold about your device or to request its deletion, contact us using the details below — we'll respond within a reasonable time.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights (access, deletion, correction, objection, or portability of any personal information we process, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them). Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
International Users
The App is available globally. Aggregated analytics data may be processed on servers located outside your country by the providers listed above, under their own privacy practices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as we add features or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is material, we'll provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice) where appropriate.
