Privacy Policy

Plain-language summary

  • Cleaner analyzes your photos, contacts, calendar and reminders entirely on your device to find duplicates, large files and clutter — your content is not uploaded to our servers to do this.
  • The optional "Secret Space" (a vault for photos, contacts, and a simple built-in browser) is protected by a PIN and, if you turn it on, Face ID / Touch ID — content you move there stays on your device.
  • Typing in Secret Space's built-in browser sends your search text to Google for autocomplete suggestions — the same way most browser address bars work.
  • We use Firebase (Google) for anonymous usage analytics, crash reports, and remote configuration — never to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell your data or show third-party ads.
  • There's no account or sign-in — every permission (Photos, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Face ID) is optional, requested only when you use the matching feature, and can be revoked any time in iOS Settings.

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Keystone Apps ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Cleaner (the "App"), an iOS utility that helps you find and remove duplicate or unwanted photos, merge duplicate contacts, and clean up old calendar events and completed reminders, plus an optional PIN- and Face ID–protected "Secret Space" for storing private photos, contacts, and browsing on your device.

We wrote this policy to be accurate and specific to what the App actually does — not a generic template. If anything here seems inconsistent with the App's real behavior, please contact us so we can fix it.

Information We Collect

Content you choose to protect in Secret Space

If you move photos, videos, or contacts into Secret Space, that content is copied into a protected area of the App's local storage on your device, secured behind your PIN and, if enabled, Face ID / Touch ID. It is not uploaded to us or to any third party.

Search text in the Private Browser

Secret Space includes a simple built-in web browser. As you type in its address bar, your search text is sent to Google's public autocomplete-suggestion service to show suggestions — the same way most browser address bars work. Bookmarks you save are stored locally on your device; browsing history is not retained after you close the browser.

Usage & diagnostic data

We use Firebase, a Google service, to understand how the App is used and to keep it reliable:

  • Firebase Analytics — screen views, which cleanup features you use, and subscription/purchase events, tied to an anonymous per-installation identifier, not your name, email, or file content.
  • Firebase Crashlytics — automatic crash reports if the App crashes, to help us find and fix bugs.
  • Firebase Performance Monitoring — technical performance data such as app start time and network response times.
  • Firebase Remote Config — lets us adjust certain app settings (like paywall behavior) remotely; this only involves the App receiving configuration from our server, not sending your personal data out.

We do not collect your name, email address, or other directly-identifying information, and there is no account or sign-in in the App.

Permissions We Request

Cleaner requests the following device permissions. Each is optional, requested only when you first use the related feature, and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings → Cleaner.

PermissionWhy we ask
Photos (view & add)To scan your photo library on-device for duplicate and large photos/videos so you can review and delete them, and to save optimized photos back to your library.
ContactsTo scan your contacts on-device for likely duplicates so you can review and merge them.
CalendarTo find old or duplicate calendar events so you can review and remove them.
RemindersTo find reminders you've already completed so you can clear them out.
Face ID / Touch IDTo lock and unlock your "Secret Space," a private area of the App for files you don't want visible to anyone else with access to your unlocked phone, and for an optional whole-app lock if you turn that on in Settings.

Secret Space itself is always protected by a PIN you set; Face ID / Touch ID is an optional, faster way to unlock it. Your PIN is salted, hashed, and stored only in your device's Keychain — never in plain text, and never synced to iCloud Keychain.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • provide the App's cleanup, Secret Space, and Private Browser features;
  • show relevant autocomplete suggestions while you type in the Private Browser;
  • understand which features are used, in aggregate, so we can improve the App;
  • diagnose and fix crashes and performance problems;
  • manage free-tier limits and your subscription entitlement (see our Terms of Use);
  • remotely tune non-personal app configuration, such as paywall presentation, via Firebase Remote Config.

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles about you, we do not show third-party ads in the App, and we do not sell your personal information.

Third-Party Services

Cleaner relies on the following third-party services:

ServiceProviderPurpose
Firebase AnalyticsGoogleAggregated, anonymous feature-usage and purchase-event analytics
Firebase CrashlyticsGoogleAutomatic crash reporting
Firebase Performance MonitoringGoogleApp performance diagnostics
Firebase Remote ConfigGoogleRemote, non-personal app configuration
Google autocomplete suggestionsGoogleSearch suggestions for text you type into the in-app Private Browser's address bar
App Store / StoreKitAppleProcesses all subscription purchases and payment

These providers may process data on servers outside your country and operate under their own privacy policies — see Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not use any advertising or attribution SDKs, and Cleaner does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Data Storage & Security

Cleaner is designed to do its core work — finding duplicates, large files, and clutter — directly on your device. Your photos, contacts, calendar entries and reminders are read using Apple's system frameworks and are not transmitted to servers we operate as part of that scanning process.

Content you move into Secret Album or Secret Contacts is stored in the App's protected local storage, encrypted at rest by iOS file protection, and excluded from iCloud and iTunes/Finder device backups — so it doesn't leave your device even in a backup. If you separately use the App's "Backup Contacts" export feature outside Secret Space to save a copy of your contacts, that exported file is kept in the App's regular local storage and, unlike Secret Space content, may be included in your device's iCloud or iTunes/Finder backups.

No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we design the App to minimize what leaves your device in the first place.

Your Choices & Rights

  • Permission controls: you can grant, deny, or revoke any permission at any time via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or Settings → Cleaner.
  • Deletion: because your content stays on your device, deleting the App from your device removes the App's access to it. Files stored in Secret Space are deleted when you delete them in-app or delete the App itself.
  • Access & correction: since we don't hold a copy of your photos, contacts, calendar or reminders on our servers, these live entirely under your control on your device.
  • If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights (such as access, deletion, correction, or portability of any personal information we do process, e.g. limited diagnostic data described above). Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.

Children's Privacy

Cleaner is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

International Users

Cleaner is available globally. Because the App's core features operate on-device, your photos, contacts, calendar and reminder data generally do not cross borders through our systems as a result of using those features. Any limited data described in this policy (such as diagnostics) may be processed in countries other than your own by our service providers, who are contractually and/or legally required to protect it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as we add features or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is material, we'll provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice) where appropriate.
